How to Care for Your Garment-Dyed Tee

A great garment-dyed tee only gets better with time — but only if you care for it well. Our tees are made from 6.1 oz, 100% ring-spun cotton that is garment-dyed after construction, giving each piece its signature soft hand and rich, lived-in color. Here is how to keep yours looking its best for years.

Wash Cold, Wash Gently

Always machine wash cold, turned inside out. Cold water protects both the garment-dyed color and the printed design, preventing fading and cracking. Turning the shirt inside out keeps the print from rubbing against other garments in the wash.

Skip the Bleach and Harsh Detergents

Bleach breaks down cotton fibers and strips garment dye of its depth. Use a gentle, color-safe detergent, and avoid fabric softeners — over time they can build up on the fabric and dull that soft, broken-in feel you love.

Dry Low, or Let It Air

Tumble dry on low heat, or better yet, hang or lay flat to air dry. High heat is the fastest way to shrink cotton and stress a print. Garment-dyed cotton is pre-shrunk, but excessive heat can still take a toll over many washes.

Never Iron the Print

If you iron, do it inside out and never place the iron directly on the printed design. A quick press on the reverse side is all a cotton tee needs.
